Who is He?

The gospel of St. Mark 6: 1-6 presents to us the rejection of Jesus in His own country. The passage ends saying Jesus could not do many miracles due to their unbelief.

It is of importance to analyse why Jesus could not enter into their lives or rather why they could not accept Jesus? The most obvious reason is the fact that they could accept Jesus only as a carpenter, the son of Mary and the bother of James and Joset and Judas (v. 3). They were not able to change the preconceived ideas of Jesus that existed in their minds.

Often, we too are faced with the same challenge in our day today lives in relating to people, especially whom we have already known. Even after an individual has made lot of efforts, we are not willing to accept the fact that he/she has changed his/her ways of thinking and acting. The danger is, we can miss out the Lord who is coming to our lives and the experience of healing and bliss of the Lord that would be brought by the presence of that individual.

The challenge placed before us is to give a new beginning to everyone, though at time it is very hard.

My Views: It is with quite a reservation that I took the book to read because of its title. However, it was a wonderful and growing experience I should say after the reading, especially in my spiritual life.

The book reveals the trust Mr. Benny had in the inspirations of the Christ. Even when the life seemed difficult, how an ordinary man trusted in the Lord.

The book also spells out the importance of a Spiritual Director who can guide you through. One can also notice that all good inspiration need not come from God always, so we need to always discern the will of God.

From me, its a must read….

Interesting quote from the Jewish Scholar David Flusser

Jesus is the “only  Jew known to us from ancient times” who proclaimed that the “new age of salvation had already began.”
(Bokenkotter Thomas. A Concise History of the Catholic Church. NY: Image Books, 2005)

“The originality of Jesus was found not so much in the novelty of his ideas (for most of them were already present in the tradition of his people) but in the way he brought them together, developed and harmonized them and above all made them real in his own life with such unparalleled intensity.”
(Bokenkotter Thomas. A Concise History of the Catholic Church. NY: Image Books, 2005)

I always believed in this principle. No one offers new ideas rather the newness of the idea is in its formation and the way of expression.

His guiding presence requires my willing presence

It is quite some time that I was thinking about the guiding presence of Jesus in my life. It is very true that He  is willing to guide me, but the question is am I willing to accept his guidance. Am I ready to take upon myself the challenges that He places before me.

He is knocking at the door, it up to me to open it to welcome him.

My Body

In the gospel of today we see Jesus cleansing the temple, driving out all who were making the temple a market place. So to say Jesus was restoring the Divinity of the Temple and it was a need for him to be present there.

Every day in our lives (or most often) we receive Blessed Sacrament, inviting Jesus to be with us, asking him to take possession of us.

But have we ever thought, what kind of a cleaning that we require to invite Jesus? Will he be happy to find us in the state we are now? If not what are the changes that we need to make?

Let this season of lent help us to recommit ourselves with new vigour and energy

Are You Worthy of the Call?

Jesus said to them, “…Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation producing the fruits of it.”  (Mt. 21: 43)

Are we worthy to receive the kingdom of God amidst us? Or will Jesus looking at us will say, it (kingdom of God) will be taken away from and given to a nation producing the fruits of it?

However, our desire to be a good Christian should be manifested in daily actions of love for God and Neighbour.

Nothing in the World Will Ever Be the Same

Loveinspiring-love-love-changes-everything-text-Favim.com-455053 changes everything and everyone, everyone for good and nothing in this world will ever be the same.

As I listened to this song during the adoration service, I was just fascinated. Looking at Jesus I really felt, this words are 101% true. Reflecting over my life too I feel, it is love that made all the difference…

So I thought of posting it;

For all those who are in love – that they may feel power of Love.

For all those who have find difficult to find meaning in their love – that they may relive the beginnings of their love.

For me that I may ever savour the beauty of my Love.

Love, love changes everything,
hands and faces, earth and sky
Love, love changes everything,
How you live and how you die
Love, can make the summer fly,
Or a night seem like a lifetime
Yes love, love changes everything,
Now I tremble at your name
Nothing in the world will ever be the same

Love, love changes everything,
Days are longer, words mean more
Love, love changes everything,
Pain is deeper, than before
Love, will turn your world around,
And that world will last forever
Yes, love, love changes everything,

Brings you glory, brings you shame
Nothing in the world will ever be the same

Off into the world we go,
Planning futures, shaping years
Love bursts in and suddenly,
All our wisdom disappears
Love, makes fools of everyone,
All the rules we make are broken
Yes, love, love changes everyone,
live or perish, in its flame
Love will never, never let you be the same
Love will never, never let you be the same

May Love Change Everything….

Holy Rosary: What and Why?

RosaryLooking into the history there are different views about the origin and the growth of this devotion. According to tradition, the concept of the rosary was given to Saint Dominic in an apparition by the Virgin Mary in the year 1214 in the church of Prouille. This Marian apparition received the title of Our Lady of the Rosary.

The Snake and the Rosary: Dream of St. John Bosco

rosary02I want to tell you a dream I had some nights ago, most probably on the eve of the Assumption. I dreamed that I was at my brother’s home at Castelnuovo d’ Asti with all my boys. While they were at play, a total stranger came up to me and asked me to go with him. He took me to a meadow alongside the playground and pointed to a huge, ugly snake, over twenty feet long, coiled in the grass. Continue reading “The Snake and the Rosary: Dream of St. John Bosco”
